These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Clocktower, a shared clock tool for tabletop role-playing games.
By using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
1. What Clocktower is
Clocktower is a free, non-commercial, fan/tool-style web app for creating and sharing game clocks for tabletop role-playing games. It is provided for convenience and fun.
Clocktower is not a corporate service, paid product, official publisher tool, or professional hosting service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Clocktower. If your country requires a higher age for consenting to online services, you must meet that age or have permission from a parent or guardian.
3. Accounts
Some features may require login. You are responsible for:
- keeping your account credentials secure;
- controlling access to your login provider account;
- all activity under your account;
- telling the operator if you believe your account has been compromised.
The operator may suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms, create security risks, abuse the service, or are inactive for a long period.
4. Shared clocks and links
Clocktower may let you create clocks and share them with other users through links, room IDs, or similar sharing mechanisms.
You are responsible for deciding who receives access to your shared clocks. Do not put secrets, sensitive personal data, private campaign notes, or confidential information into clock names, labels, or links.
Shared clocks may be visible to anyone with the relevant link or access information.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use Clocktower to:
- break the law or violate anyone’s rights;
- harass, threaten, abuse, or impersonate others;
- upload or create unlawful, harmful, defamatory, hateful, or invasive content;
- spam, scrape, crawl, overload, or disrupt the service;
- attempt to bypass authentication, authorization, rate limits, or security controls;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of systems without permission;
- reverse engineer parts of the service except where allowed by law or open-source license;
- use the service to distribute malware, phishing, or malicious links;
- use another person’s account or shared clock without permission.
6. User content
You retain whatever rights you have in clock names, labels, notes, and other content you create.
By using the site, you give the operator a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, transmit, synchronize, and otherwise use your content only as needed to operate, secure, maintain, and improve Clocktower.
You represent that you have the rights needed to create and share your content through the site.
7. Fan project and intellectual property disclaimer
Clocktower is an independent fan/tool project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved by any tabletop RPG publisher unless expressly stated.
All third-party game names, trademarks, logos, rules text, artwork, and other intellectual property belong to their respective owners. Use of any third-party names is for identification, compatibility, commentary, or fan/community reference only.
Do not upload or submit copyrighted game text, artwork, or other protected material unless you have the right to do so.
8. Site ownership and license
The site’s code, design, name, branding, and original materials are owned by the operator or their licensors, except for third-party materials and open-source components.
These Terms do not give you ownership of the site, its code, or branding.
If portions of the code are published under an open-source license, that license governs those portions.
9. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected and used. The Cookie and Local Storage Policy explains browser storage used by the site.
10. Changes, availability, and deletion
Clocktower may change, break, go offline, or be discontinued at any time.
The operator may modify, suspend, or remove features; delete inactive data; or restrict access where needed for maintenance, security, abuse prevention, legal reasons, or project changes.
You should not rely on Clocktower as permanent storage for important campaign materials.
11. No warranties
Clocktower is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator disclaims all warranties, including warranties of availability, accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; lost data; lost profits; lost goodwill; service interruption; or unauthorized access arising from or related to your use of Clocktower.
Because Clocktower is a free non-commercial project, the operator’s total liability for any claim related to the site is limited to the greater of:
- the amount you paid to use Clocktower in the 12 months before the claim; or
- USD $50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability limits, so some limits may not apply to you.
13. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold the operator harmless from claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from:
- your use of the site;
- your content;
- your violation of these Terms;
- your violation of any law or third-party right.
14. Termination
You may stop using Clocktower at any time.
The operator may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk, abuse the service, or if continued operation is no longer practical.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and dispute provisions.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malmo Sweden, excluding conflict of laws rules.
Disputes should first be raised by contacting me@turnercore.dev so the parties can try to resolve the issue informally.
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be handled in the courts or dispute forum of the courts or appropriate dispute forum in Malmo Sweden, unless applicable consumer or data protection law requires otherwise.
16. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. The updated version will be posted on the site with a new effective date. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
